My newest "baby" was born this Sunday! Announcing - The Sassafras Science Adventures Volume 3: Botany! This book is the third volume in the Sassafras Science series and it is all about plants. There is so little on the market for plants compared to animals and the human body. So, I really believe that this book will serve as a resource to many! I couldn't be more excited . . . and more … [Read more...]

After a bit of a hiatus the learning through science series is back! I have already share with you how to teach the colors through science and in this post I want to share five science activities you can use to enhance your studies of the letters A through … [Read more...]

Theory vs. Fact at the Homeschool Science Corner

August 20, 2014 by Paige Hudson

I love science. I love watching a reaction unfold. I love the feel of holding an Erlenmeyer flask in my hand. I love using pipettes - especially the ones you can dial in to a specific measurement which is so much more fun than a teaspoon measurement. I also secretly enjoy putting on safety glasses. There's just something about them that makes you really feel like a scientist. Now … [Read more...]

July 30, 2014 by Paige Hudson

As the programs of Elemental Science grows in popularity, we are seeing more and more co-ops using our programs. I wanted to create a resource for co-ops that would help you to plan what to do in-class and what to assign for at-home. I have also included approximate times for you as well to help you gauge how much time to schedule. Here are my suggestions for using our classic series in the … [Read more...]

Homeschool Science Corner ~ 3 Types of Fossils

July 23, 2014 by Paige Hudson

This week's homeschool science corner is all about the three main types of fossils. Scientists categorize fossils into three main groups -  impression fossils, trace fossils, and replacement fossils. Amber is also often looked at as a fourth type of fossil. Although a chunk of amber can contain insects that were trapped in resin long ago, technically it is still categorized as a … [Read more...]

Welcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory

profile picWelcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory, a.k.a. the Eb Lab. Here at the lab, I have the pleasure of sharing with you all my passion for mixing up solutions for homeschool science! My name is Paige Hudson. I am a homeschooling mom and science curriculum writer for Elemental Science.

Why do I call this blog the "Eb Lab"? It is because I am scientist at heart and by profession, so it pretty much spills into everything I do. I love to share tips and tools with fellow educators as they seek to share science with their students!

That is what this blog is all about. One homeschooler to another, sharing her area of expertise, seeking to support you as you teach your students about the wonders of science.

So, grab your lab coat, notebook, and goggles...well maybe not the goggles because let's face it nobody looks good in those...and you probably don't have a lab coat lying around your house either...

So, grab a cup of coffee and notebook, and head on in to the Eb Lab to gather tools for homeschool science, tips for homeschooling, and the latest Elemental Science news!
