We live in a digital world. Smartphones and social media abound. The great thing is that as homeschoolers we can use technology to our advantage. These days we can be mesmerized by the eagle as she tends to her nest in real-time. We can listen to the classics with the touch of a button. And we can answer our kids burning questions with a quick Google Search. I thought that today I … [Read more...]

US Presidents Study for Homeschoolers

February 10, 2015 by Paige Hudson

Next year we will be doing a US presidents study before we begin our logic stage modern history studies. I figure it's a perfect time given the fact that we will soon be watching a slew of political ads and debates leading up to the 2016 presidential elections. My original plan was to do something similar to what we did for our US State Study during the grammar stage years. But after some … [Read more...]

What should middle school science look like?

December 3, 2014 by Paige Hudson

I was researching for one of the programs I am working on and ran across this statement from the National Science Teacher's Association: The middle school years, grades 5 through 9, are a time of tremendous physical, emotional, and cognitive changes for students. It also is a pivotal time in their understanding of and enthusiasm for science. Research has shown that if educators don’t capture … [Read more...]

September 23, 2014 by Paige Hudson

I have been homeschooling for over nine years now. My daughter is wrapping up her middle school years and very quickly heading toward high school. It is a bittersweet time as I watch my little girl grow up and realize that I will probably be the shortest one in the family! The thing is – I get to start the whole homeschooling journey over again. My kids are eight years apart. It is not … [Read more...]

Welcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory

profile picWelcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory, a.k.a. the Eb Lab. Here at the lab, I have the pleasure of sharing with you all my passion for mixing up solutions for homeschool science! My name is Paige Hudson. I am a homeschooling mom and science curriculum writer for Elemental Science.

Why do I call this blog the "Eb Lab"? It is because I am scientist at heart and by profession, so it pretty much spills into everything I do. I love to share tips and tools with fellow educators as they seek to share science with their students!

That is what this blog is all about. One homeschooler to another, sharing her area of expertise, seeking to support you as you teach your students about the wonders of science.

So, grab your lab coat, notebook, and goggles...well maybe not the goggles because let's face it nobody looks good in those...and you probably don't have a lab coat lying around your house either...

So, grab a cup of coffee and notebook, and head on in to the Eb Lab to gather tools for homeschool science, tips for homeschooling, and the latest Elemental Science news!
