5 More Tips to Help You Get it All Done

March 25, 2013 by Paige Hudson

Awhile back I wrote a post with 5 tips for how we get it all done, but since then my little guy has arrived fully into toddler land. He's decided not to take a nap anymore, which was my work time, and teaching him about rest time is not going as well as I had planned.  Plus, my daughter is more active in dance this year, which takes up extra time and requires that we are more diligent about … [Read more...]

The Basics of Notebooking

January 17, 2013 by Paige Hudson

I recommend notebooking over straight comprehension worksheets during the elementary and middle school years because it is an excellent way of engaging the student with the information he is learning. In notebooking, the student is not merely regurgitating facts; he is thinking over what he has read or heard and responding with what he has found to be meaningful. Notebooking is an extremely … [Read more...]

The Science of Exploration

October 25, 2012 by Paige Hudson

Every child loves to create things and mine are no exception. I'm always amazed at the different things they create. If I'm honest, sometimes I get frustrated by all the mess (I know that I'm not the only one who feels this way!), but I have to remind myself that they are learning. You see, exploration is the purest form of learning, especially for learning science. I can tell my daughter … [Read more...]

What is Living Book?

August 29, 2012 by Paige Hudson

Everywhere you turn, homeschoolers are touting living books and the benefits of using them in educating our children.  The title is being slapped on all kinds of different books, so much so that many non-living books are being labeled as living. Even I have been guilty of mislabeling a reference book as living, which I believe has largely come out of a misunderstanding of what a living book … [Read more...]

10 Random Things About Me

July 24, 2012 by Paige Hudson

So today as part of iHomeschool Network's 10 in 10 today, we are sharing "10 Things About Me You Should Know", but I'm thinking that maybe I should call this "10 Things About Me You Might Want To Know" or "10 Random Things About Me". So here it goes, 10 Random Things About Me: 1. I like yogurt with fruit and granola every morning for breakfast.  I used to buy the generic fruit yogurt, but … [Read more...]

Welcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory

profile picWelcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory, a.k.a. the Eb Lab. Here at the lab, I have the pleasure of sharing with you all my passion for mixing up solutions for homeschool science! My name is Paige Hudson. I am a homeschooling mom and science curriculum writer for Elemental Science.

Why do I call this blog the "Eb Lab"? It is because I am scientist at heart and by profession, so it pretty much spills into everything I do. I love to share tips and tools with fellow educators as they seek to share science with their students!

That is what this blog is all about. One homeschooler to another, sharing her area of expertise, seeking to support you as you teach your students about the wonders of science.

So, grab your lab coat, notebook, and goggles...well maybe not the goggles because let's face it nobody looks good in those...and you probably don't have a lab coat lying around your house either...

So, grab a cup of coffee and notebook, and head on in to the Eb Lab to gather tools for homeschool science, tips for homeschooling, and the latest Elemental Science news!
