5 Tips to help you get it all done!

July 17, 2012 by Paige Hudson

As a homeschooler and work at home mom, it's hard to find that balance between all the things that pull on my schedule.  It is difficult to figure out how to organize my week so that I can do what I need to do and not get to side-tracked by what I don't. With the new school year just around the corner, I thought that I would answer a question that I get quite often... "How do you get it all … [Read more...]

5 Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Writing (and Owning Your Own Business)

May 9, 2012 by Paige Hudson

There was a discussion on Twitter recently by The Mom Writes.  She posted the following: "Being a WAHM (work-at-home mom) is _____" We'll of course I had to answer, so I wrote: "crazy, absolutely crazy, but I love it!" It's true, being a WAHM, owning your own business, writing science curriculum, and homeschooling your children is crazy.  Some days I want to pull every hair on my head … [Read more...]

The other half of my brain…

April 25, 2012 by Paige Hudson

I have the best husband in the world for me! He's my rock, my partner in business and in life, my best friend and so much more. Over the years, we have truly grown to function as one. The only problem I have found with this is that when he's gone, half of my brain has left with him. You see, I have a lot on my plate between writing for Elemental Science, homeschooling my daughter, having … [Read more...]

Avoiding Burnout in Life and Homeschool

October 27, 2011 by Paige Hudson

"If you work all the time, even at something you love, you will burnout." Someone told me this once, but I didn't listen. You see when you have a home business, homeschool and stay at home with your kids, taking off is virtually impossible. Well, if I'm really honest, it's possible to take time off, I just have to really work at it. I'm the type of person who always has something going; there … [Read more...]

September 7, 2011 by Paige Hudson

Setting realistic goals is always a challenge when it comes to self-education. For me, my life is busy, so I don't have a ton of time to spend on self education.  However, there is still a lot that I would like to learn, so finding a balance between what I want to do and what I can do is difficult. Here are steps I've found helpful for setting self-education goals each year. How to Set … [Read more...]

What is Self Education?

August 17, 2011 by Paige Hudson

What is Self Education? | Elemental Blogging

As a homeschooler I am often asked how in the world I can teach all the things my student needs to know. My answer is that it is easy for me to teach the subjects I am strong in, like science and math. For the others, I learn what I need to teach through Self Education. What is Self Education? Their next question is almost always what the heck is Self Education? Webster's Definition of Self … [Read more...]

Welcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory

profile picWelcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory, a.k.a. the Eb Lab. Here at the lab, I have the pleasure of sharing with you all my passion for mixing up solutions for homeschool science! My name is Paige Hudson. I am a homeschooling mom and science curriculum writer for Elemental Science.

Why do I call this blog the "Eb Lab"? It is because I am scientist at heart and by profession, so it pretty much spills into everything I do. I love to share tips and tools with fellow educators as they seek to share science with their students!

That is what this blog is all about. One homeschooler to another, sharing her area of expertise, seeking to support you as you teach your students about the wonders of science.

So, grab your lab coat, notebook, and goggles...well maybe not the goggles because let's face it nobody looks good in those...and you probably don't have a lab coat lying around your house either...

So, grab a cup of coffee and notebook, and head on in to the Eb Lab to gather tools for homeschool science, tips for homeschooling, and the latest Elemental Science news!
