Why We Love to Teach Homeschool Science, part 2

May 7, 2014 by Paige Hudson

Why we love to teach homeschool science

I love to hear about how other homeschoolers teach certain subjects, even science. I find it so inspiring to look at teaching from a different perspective. This is why I have set out to gather thoughts on teaching homeschool science from some of today's leading bloggers. This month, I've asked Karyn, Ticia, Maureen, and Amy to share their thoughts. Thank you ladies for offering your perspective … [Read more...]

Science Encyclopedias | Homeschool Science Corner at Elemental Blogging

I see A LOT of different science encyclopedias in my line of work. In fact, "a lot" doesn't cover the volume of children's scientific reference books I have been through. I've seen the awesome, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I do enjoy leafing through these resources and sharing them with my own children, so I can't complain! Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favorites - … [Read more...]

The Science Fair Project ~ Our Experience

April 23, 2014 by Paige Hudson

I consider the science fair project to be an essential component of a middle school student's science education. It's an excellent opportunity for these students to practice the scientific method from start to finish. So now that our daughter has hit the middle school years, we finally get to really dig into a  science fair project. This year, we decided to also have her participate in a … [Read more...]

The Scientific Method through the Ages

April 16, 2014 by Paige Hudson

As you all know by now, I feel that the scientific method is one of the foundational tools of science. I believe that no high school student should graduate without a firm grasp of this concept and that simply memorizing the steps is not enough. Students need to have used the aspects of the technique over and over until it becomes a natural habit. The goal is to have them fully etch this … [Read more...]

Why we Love to Teach Science (part 1) | Elemental Blogging

Last week for the Homeschool Science Corner I shared about why we should teach science along with an inspirational "how to" from Marci the Homeschool Scientist. This week I asked some of my favorite homeschool bloggers to share their thoughts on teaching science. Here's what they had to say: Why we love to teach homeschool science Cindy West Student Ages - 17, 13, 7 Years Homeschooling … [Read more...]

Homeschool Science Corner ~ Why Teach Science?

April 2, 2014 by Paige Hudson

In my house, science is a subject near and dear to our hearts.  Both my husband and I hold degrees in the field, which means that our kids get a double dose of the subject! Our experiences with science have been overwhelmingly positive. The sad reality is that for many people this is not true. Most of the population cringes when you mention words like chemistry or physics. Science is often … [Read more...]

Welcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory

profile picWelcome to the Elemental Blogging Laboratory, a.k.a. the Eb Lab. Here at the lab, I have the pleasure of sharing with you all my passion for mixing up solutions for homeschool science! My name is Paige Hudson. I am a homeschooling mom and science curriculum writer for Elemental Science.

Why do I call this blog the "Eb Lab"? It is because I am scientist at heart and by profession, so it pretty much spills into everything I do. I love to share tips and tools with fellow educators as they seek to share science with their students!

That is what this blog is all about. One homeschooler to another, sharing her area of expertise, seeking to support you as you teach your students about the wonders of science.

So, grab your lab coat, notebook, and goggles...well maybe not the goggles because let's face it nobody looks good in those...and you probably don't have a lab coat lying around your house either...

So, grab a cup of coffee and notebook, and head on in to the Eb Lab to gather tools for homeschool science, tips for homeschooling, and the latest Elemental Science news!
